India features in the Rio Olympic medals list as Sakshi Malik won the bronze medal in the wrestling 58 kgs category.
India finally featured in the Rio Olympic Titles List as Sakshi Malik, the Indian freestyle wrestler won the bronze medal in the wrestling 58 kgs category, becoming the first Indian female wrestler to win a medal at the Olympics for India in the Olympics.
Hailing from Haryana, Sakshi Malik, at the age of 18, she had victory at junior-level competitions. She won a Bronze at the 2010 Junior World Championships in the 59-kg category. She first came to the international limelight after taking home the Gold at the Dave Schultz International Wrestling Tournament (60-kg) in 2014. She won a silver medal in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. She had also won the bronze medal at the Senior Asian Wrestling Championships in Doha in 2015.
This was her first participation in the olympics and had achieved the bronze medal in the 58 kgs category by beating Aisuluu Tynybekova from Kyrgyztan.
